Heuston railway station was opened as the terminus and headquarters of the Great Southern and Western Railway, back in 1846. It is one of Ireland’s main railway stations, linking the capital city of Dublin with the cities of Cork in the south of the country, Portlaoise in the midlands, and Galway and Limerick in the west. Heuston Station is also known as Dublin Heuston and is currently operated by Iarnród Éireann.
